Wilma grew up on the Reich farm just west of the Missouri River in Glasgow, MO. She was the valedictorian of the Glasgow High School class of 1936.
She had a full career as a nurse and was an avid gardener. She was the subject of a National Public Radio interview in May 2013. Within 48 hours of recording that interview, she died peacefully at the age of 94. She had spent part of that day working in her garden. She had planned to reduce her gardening efforts by only planting about 150 tomato plants that year.
Wilma is pictured with her daughter Kate on the day of the interview.
